Westcott Test Site (TF1) – 1 year into construction

A year ago, Reaction Engines announced it had begun construction of a new engine test facility at Westcott, Buckinghamshire. To mark the start of construction, Mark Thomas, CEO undertook a ground breaking ceremony with Franco Ongaro, Director of Technology, Engineering and Quality, European Space Agency (ESA), Dr. Chris Castelli, Director, Programmes, UK Space Agency and Richard Harrington, CEO, Buckinghamshire Thames Valley LEP.

The test facility  will enable Reaction Engines to test critical subsystems along with the testing of a SABRE engine core, which will commence in 2020.

Since the ground breaking event great progress has been made to both the assembly building and the test site compound, with a completion date for the assembly building due in June 2018.
