Reaction Engines wins prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering award
We are delighted to announce that a team from Reaction Engines has been chosen by the Royal Academy of Engineering Awards Committee to be the recipients of the Colin Campbell Mitchell Award for 2020.

This award recognises a small team of engineers who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of UK engineering.

The team, led by Engineering Project Lead Dr Helen Webber, have been recognised by the Academy for the HTX programme that saw our heat exchanger validated at temperatures representative of Mach 5 in October last year

We are honoured to receive this prestigious award and would like to congratulate the following members of staff who have been specifically named in the award:

About the Colin Campbell Mitchell Award

The Colin Campbell Mitchell Award is awarded to an engineer or small team of engineers who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of UK engineering.

Awarded to an individual or team of up to six engineers, either working or studying in the UK. It is awarded for having made the greatest contribution to the advancement of any field of engineering within the period of the four years prior to the making of the award.

The Colin Campbell Mitchell Award commemorates the life and work of one of Scotland’s most accomplished marine engineers. Edinburgh-born Colin Campbell Mitchell OBE FRSE (1904-69) had a long and distinguished career with Brown Brothers Engineering, where he pioneered the development of the steam catapult for use on aircraft carriers.
