2019 – Year in Review

It’s that time of year again where we all reflect upon the previous twelve months and look to the New Year ahead. Here at Reaction Engines it has been an extremely busy year – the highlight of which, undoubtedly being the full validation of our heat exchanger at temperatures representative of Mach 5, a truly significant milestone in our mission to unlock the next generation of hypersonic flight and space access.

Other highlights have been celebrating our 30th birthday in August, being honoured with awards from esteemed bodies such as the Institute of PhysicsLondon Stock Exchange Group, and Aviation Week Network, the announcement of our collaboration with the French Space Agency (CNES) and taking part in important industry events such as the Future Atlantic forum on-board HMS Queen Elizabeth, the ISABE Conference in Canberra and the UK Space Conference to name just a few.

2019 has also seen the first large-scale commercial application of our heat exchange technology, when our Applied Technologies division signed an agreement with Nammo UK to supply a rocket plume heat exchanger for the UK’s new National Space Propulsion Test Facility

It is an exciting time for us as we move to the next stage of the development of the SABRE engine and the further commercialisation of our thermal management technology and we look forward to what 2020 holds.

So, as 2019 comes to a close we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
