We’re looking for a flexible and confident Senior Technician to join our Supply Chain & Production Department.
The Role
Pro-actively assist in the development, assembly and testing of components and materials, working alongside the engineering and design teams. The post holder will be expected to retain a flexible approach to the required tasks and work closely with all areas of the manufacturing department. There will be a requirement to flex between the machining and assembly areas as required by the business demand.

- Mentor and develop Junior members of the team
- Apply broad knowledge of principles and practices
- Prioritise work to meet business needs
- Willingness to travel to test sites
Experience
Essential
- Understanding of materials and their various applications
- Broad background of Engineering processes and Techniques
- Proven track record of developing processes and procedures in a development environment
- Strong bench fitting and manual machining experience
- Lifting and Slinging techniques
Desirable
- Vacuum and leak detecting experience
- CNC Milling and Turning
Qualifications
Essential
- BTEC Technical Certificate
- Recognised Apprenticeship or equivalent time served experience
Desirable
- HNC or higher education
Skills and Behaviours
Essential
- Being able to design and build test rigs and jigs for various applications
- Competent at solving technical problems that arise in a Research and Development environment
- Manual Milling and Turning
- Good bench fitting skills
- Ability to read technical drawings
- The ability to work both in a team and independently
- To ensure a safe work environment by adopting a clean and conscientious attitude when working
- Flexible
- Able to plan and organise your own workload
- Listen and learn from others with different skills and knowledge

- Knowledge of vacuum systems
- Experience of Brazing techniques and equipment

Salary: £33,000 to £40,000, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Full Time – 35 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (0700 to 1615hrs)
Location: Site based at Culham
