Programme Manager – Applied Technologies

The Role

To ensure the successful delivery of Applied Technologies programmes and portfolio of Sub-Projects on behalf of the Applied Technologies Director. This includes client interface, working with and supporting the Business Development team to meet customer expectations, and the Company’s business objectives.

 

The Programme Manager will functionally report to the Programmes Director and will manage AT Project Management function. Responsibilities may also be extended to support other projects, for example within Advanced or Future Programmes.

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Review, improve and set Applied Technologies Programme structure, vision, strategy and direction in line with divisional growth and performance metrics
  • To ensure the successful delivery of internal and external programmes to meet customer expectations and the Company’s business objectives
  • Develop effective working relationships with all customers as well as within the business
  • Create and maintain a Programme Integrated Master Schedule and Risk Register
  • Negotiating and acquiring the necessary resources to achieve Programme deliverables
  • Help identify and grow a multi-disciplined group of people to achieve contracted and targeted Programme objectives on time and In full
  • Coach , mentor and grow the Project Managers function and assure that all team members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities
  • Provide a leading interface across technical, engineering, manufacturing and business development functions
  • Track and report on progress to plan; insure key Programme indicators are tracked, maintained and reported on a regular basis
  • Establish and publish/communicate clear priorities among Programme activities
  • Arbitrate and resolve conflict and interface problems within programmes
  • Establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating corrective action
  • Keep all stakeholders informed of progress and issues; support Programme status reviews to customer and REL Senior Management
  • Involve functional expertise in design reviews and key decisions as well as risk strategies
  • Manage change to preserve business plan commitments. Initiate Phase Reviews if objectives must change
  • Ensuring compliance to the Reaction Engines approved processes and Customer Contract/Statement of work

 

Experience

Essential

  • Previously managed innovative programmes aligned to aerospace, energy and ground-based transport development, with a track record of successful Programme delivery
  • Must have a background sufficient to appreciate the technologies and technical issues involved with programmes
  • Ability to anticipate and identify critical obstacles, and to ensure accurate and timely decisions are made

Desirable

  • 5-10 years’ previous experience in project management
  • Experience of Agile Project Management methodologies

 

Qualifications

Essential

  • An engineering degree or equivalent experience in a business or technically related discipline

Desirable

  • A recognised project management qualification
