Reaction Engines’ Engineering Director, Philippa Davies, has been named one of the top 50 Women in UK Engineering for 2022 by the Women’s Engineering Society. The awards this year focus on celebrating women inventors and innovators who can #ImagineTheFuture.
Philippa has worked at Reaction Engines for 10 years and is playing a leading role in the Company’s development of pioneering technology that is transforming high speed flight, space access, and delivering sustainable technologies to accelerate the transition to net zero. In her role as Engineering Director, Philippa has overall responsibility for the engineering function and the leadership of all engineers within the Reaction Engines’ business.
The WE50 awards, which are held in association with The Guardian newspaper, are announced each year on 23rd June on International Women in Engineering Day. The awards have been running since 2016 and are subject to a highly competitive selection process. This year the Women in Engineering Awards celebrates the top female Inventors and Innovators from across the UK, who can demonstrate the creation or improvement of a product or process alongside their work to advocate for other women in STEM.
Reaction Engines is committed to working proactively to address gender balance and representation across its business, particularly in engineering roles.
Commenting on her award, Philippa Davies said: “It is a real privilege to be recognised amongst brilliant engineers from a wide range of disciplines and I am thrilled by this award.
“It is a real testament to both the impact our work at Reaction Engines is having on the engineering landscape and the efforts of our team to build an innovative and inclusive learning culture.
“I would like to thank those who nominated me and who have helped me throughout my career to be in a position to achieve this. I look forward to continuing to promote women in engineering and STEM more broadly at Reaction Engines and throughout the profession in the years to come.”
