Manufacturing Engineer

The Role

Responsible to ensure the manufacturability of the product with the required equipment capability, compliance with design intent, safety and quality/costs/time objectives, both on site, or at suppliers.


The role will define the industrialised manufacturing processes required to bring our concepts through development to production and sub-assemblies, bridging design concepts and detailed drawings through to manufacturing and assembly layouts and production processes tools and techniques required, in conjunction with Supply chain strategy to meet the programme needs.


The Manufacturing Engineer will implement and support the tool sets to drive the business including, FMEA’s and effective root cause analysis to ensure we have a robust repeatable manufacturing processes, and quickly resolve any deviations in the expected outcome.


Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Define process requirements
  • Develop new manufacturing capabilities
  • Create and control technical standards
  • Document and maintain control of manufacturing and assembly processes with operators
  • Improve process yield rates
  • Identify opportunities and implement actions to reduce costs with operators and design engineers
  • Optimise process cycle times
  • Resolve workshop enquiries
  • Investigate product deviations and drive to root cause
  • Coordinate or participate in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews
  • Define First Off and First Article Inspection and V&V requirements
  • Work with internal and supplier manufacturing groups
  • Provide DFM input
  • Report and present progress on the above activities
  • Observe and comply with policies and procedures for Health and Safety at Work and observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives
  • Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role




  • Relevant production experience
  • Experience in various manufacturing and assembly techniques
  • Experience in launching new products



  • Purchasing experience
  • Project management experience
  • Previous use of production control/ manufacturing resource planning software (ideally RedAnt)
  • Vacuum brazing and material experience




  • A degree/HND level qualification or equivalent in an engineering discipline is desirable but not required, so long as the applicant can demonstrate appropriate previous experience and attributes for the role

Salary: £33,000 to £40,000 (DOE)

Contract: Permanent

Working Hours: Full Time – 35 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (0700 to 1615hrs)

Location: Site based at Culham
