Indirect Procurement Lead

The Role

Primary point of contact for external spend for all indirect functions across the business. Key focus on defining Supply Chain solutions, including supplier selection and joint development. Work with your key stakeholders and strategic suppliers to identify sources of value, and drive improvement opportunities. You will keep the focus on driving cost, quality and delivery improvements while protecting the business requirements.


You will also be responsible for developing and deploying a complex category strategy and championing it through the business. This will require selecting and developing strategic suppliers and exiting others, while ensuring that company IP is protected through NDAs and secure contracts.


Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Create and implement supply chain commercial framework to meet the company requirements, including but not limited to:
    • Define stakeholder needs
    • Make & present sourcing strategies
    • Tendering documents
    • Validation of SOW packages
    • Negotiation of costs, schedules and terms associated with contracted requirements
    • Respond to quality or delivery shortfalls
    • Manage scope changes with suppliers to mitigate commercial or delivery impact
    • Place and expedite orders in line with stakeholder requirements
    • Optimise supplier engagement and development from concept to delivery
  • Create and maintain a category Supply Chain strategy
    • Summarising the Supply Chain strategy by category
    • Make available to all relevant stakeholders the sourcing strategies
    • Risk Analysis – Identification and resolution of supply issues in order to meet business commitments against planned milestones
    • Rationalise and manage the category’s approved supplier list
    • Validate proposed improvements to Supply Chain and Manufacturing strategies
  • Identify and support service and process improvements
  • Identify business risks, and provide input to the business Risk Register
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Reaction Engines’ corporate objectives
  • Observe and comply with all company policies and procedures and for Health and Safety at Work
  • Observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives
  • Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation

  • Strong Supply Chain Management background
  • Excellent contractual expertise
  • Defining and developing supply chain strategies
  • Complex bid management and negotiation in a complex commercial environment
  • Defining and developing material or service specifications / statements of work
  • Demonstrable success in cost reduction initiatives
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a procurement or contract management role



  • Currently in a Senior Supply Chain or Commercial Officer/Manager role
  • Experience in managing multiple complex programmes at the same time
  • Experience of working in an aerospace or manufacturing sector




  • Degree level or equivalent education



  • Chartered Membership of a professional body

This role attracts a competitive salary and excellent company benefits including 28 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days after 2 years’ service) plus public holidays, employee share scheme, employer matching company pension scheme, life assurance and a contribution towards onsite nursery childcare for children under 3 years of age.  We also offer dynamic working where employees split their time working from home and from our office in Culham.


Salary: £45,000 to £52,000, depending on experience

Contract: Permanent

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
